Do I bring my own bike?
Yes! This is a byob - bring your own bike - ride. Please be sure that it is in good working condition - a happy bike makes for a happy ride!
What else do I need to bring with me?
Riders must wear a helmet. No helmet = no ride. Please be sure to have yours with you. We also highly recommend front and rear lights for increased visibility.
What type of roads will we be riding on?
Routes are on paved roads. The first ~ 5 miles of each route takes riders out of Lancaster City, through suburban areas, out to the outstanding riding areas of Lancaster County. The end of each route is similar - back through neighborhoods into Lancaster City to Decades Lancaster.
Is this for serious cyclists?
Bike Lancaster welcomes cyclists of all levels. Cyclists choose from three distances and choose their own pace. Participants must be at least 18 years old. And cyclists must be able to complete their chosen route by 2pm.
Where will I rack my bike during pre and post ride stops?
Each stop has a clearly marked designated area that is monitored by our staff.
What type of support can I expect on the ride?
Each ride has bike mechanic support available. And each ride has an aid station on the route with snacks and gatorade/water.
What happens in the event of inclement weather?
Decisions will be made on a case by case basis. We will ride in rain, so come prepared with extra layers and rain gear. The safety of riders will always be prioritized in decision making. Every effort will be made to get the ride in, including adjusting timing/itinerary.
